Is there any way of removing the animated preset window that sits besides the FX and Transitions?--You can drag the FX and Transition window to cover most of the animated preset window but you cant get rid of it entirely---
You can drag it over more to the right or left and in effect hide most or all of it or any other dockable windows so they get out of the way, just like moving the preview window, click on the thin vertical bar and drag.
Or...
From the Menu Bar uncheck Video FX. Now when you want to use a FX filter click Plug-in also on the Menu Bar. It should open as a small window. Drag it where you want. You'll still have access to the filters but not see the presets.
Personally, I WISH the next version would come up with a better arrangement. I've never been partial to dockable windows, I find them clumsy. If you have several open they eat up a lot of precious screen real estate. I would prefer something along the lines of one area where the vairous tabs, trimmer, Text/Backgrounds/Video FX etc. stacked on each other with a single button that brings what you want to the front with the rest hide underneath the others. Would seem to make sense since you can't do more than one operatoin at a time anyway.
I really like the Vegas interface and I think it's what makes it so appealing to me. I can set up any windows that I like in just about any way I like (I happen to like the animated presets so that part doesn't bother me). I love the docking tab metaphor and I like that I can drag any part of it onto a second monitor to get more real estate. I hope for improvements in many areas, but the interface works for me so I hope they spend their time adding cool features rather than just giving it a face lift.
I wonder if they would ever consider hiring Satish. He sure knows how to write plug-ins and we could use some more of them.
