You have to uncheck this option

But there is a newer build than 512, the latest is build 550

I have updated to the latest version of Vegas pro 19 (512?)

I think that you may mean build 532 - there was no VP19 build 512.

As build 532 had some bugs in it affecting a lot of users, build 550 was released shortly thereafter and is effectively a corrected build 532 - so it is recommended to update to build 550.

Unfortunately, I've had no success in the past with unchecking the Newsfeed option in Preferences to stop the build update nag windows every time Vegas Pro is opened.

If Vegas Pro has the separate "Update Notifier" application like Sound Forge, it can be uninstalled. It is separate from the main app and will not impede the main app, except to remove the annoyance.
If it is same with Sound Forge, the 'Update Notifier' application can be found in “Program files> Common files> Magix”. Also see this recent thread in the Magix Sound Forge forum,

@emmo5611

Hello, prevent your Vegas from networking because it will load ad pop-up from Magix.
