GH1 AVCHD clips crash Vegas 8.0c

Hi,

Ive been having a little trouble with some particular files from my GH1. So far it's been two files that always crash Vegas. If you want to try out this AVHCD file on your system I've uploaded it here:

Its only 0.5MB so very small file. Vegas crashes only when I play that file on the timeline. Not when I put it on the timeline. Windows media player plays the file albeit jerkily, so I do think there might be something wrong with the actual file.

Any ideas on what might be wrong?

AVCHD files can be very quirky when used natively. Many of us have to transcode to other file formats so we don't get the anomalies associated with the format.

Any attempt to load into V8.0c here crashes , but loads and plays in V9. Files rendered in V9 play in V8

Plays on timeline and renders fine on my Dell XPS 720 with Vegas 9b.

Thanks everyone, good to know theres a way to get these working in case I really need to. For the moment Ill wait with the upgrade.
