What? I said I'm making a video 10 reasons why Vegas is a good software. And I asked if some of you guys would give me a few reasons why. Did you even read my post?

@AnkarosEdits21 It's probably the areas where Vegas excels compared to other software that you need to concentrate on. The Vegas sales page at https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-pro/ has some comparisons at the end which might give you some ideas.

I like that the timeline doesn't hide things from you- at a glance you can see all audio and video and if any Fx are applied to events or tracks (make sure the labels are enabled).

I like that the revised color grading panel has everything I need for most clips in one place and it's even easy to add masks with bezier masking through the CGP. I also like you can extend its flexibility by adding the CGP to an adjustment event and you can even blend CGP settings or keyframe them by adjusting the opacity (strength).

What may be a good reason for me might not be a non-starter for you. The reason to try the trial is to see if it is a good fit for you and the way you edit.

Me personally? I've been editing with Vegas for the last 8 years, even though I have Davinici Resolve Studio w/Speed Editor (this is the paid version), that I've also have had for over 4 years.

What has kept me from editing with it is the timeline editing. Vegas was a natural "fit" for me and the way I edit. I like that everything is right there in front of me. No "pages" I have to go to. No nodes, since this old brain has been doing layer based editing for a couple of decades. This is one trick the "old dog" can not learn, nodes.

Yes, you can get a free version of software, but I average out the cost over a year, and for me, it isn't an issue. I once thought that the UI (back around VP10) was butt ugly and confusing so never considered it. Then a Humble Bundle VP14 Edit was offered. It was cheap and I figured, I'd give it a shot. After 2 weeks of blasting through timeline editing, I bought VP15 Suite and upgraded every year.

Are there "teething" pains with initial releases? For me yes. But so far, the Vegas developers have ironed out most of them. No software is perfect. None. A trip to their user forums will detail this. And with complexity, software becomes more difficult to debug.

But while VP23 has some issues, it hasn't stopped me (only delayed briefly) from editing.

On my computer, I have Pinnacle Studio 26 Ultimate, Videostudio Pro 2023 Ultimate, Magix Movie Studio 2024 Suite, Video Pro X14. and Davinci Resolve Studio 20.2.1. When it comes to me editing, Vegas is what I work with.

Yeah on a last post I did I wrote why I chose to stick with Vegas for tiktok style edits instead of moving to After Effects for them. Or even Davinci Resolve that can has scripts now for AE effects, Was that I've been editing on Vegas since I had movie studio platinum 12-17 for trailer type edits for star wars etc. (Didn't see the success as I wished on YouTube channels I had for them) Was the timeline and the fact you can keep the center channel easily in 5.1 audio.

The reason. Why I want to make this video is because I am tired of people dismissing it I don't want it to die off because it can do everything that other softwares can when you have the plugins like Sapphire, BCC, Twixtor, Ignite and MBLs and Vegasaur which I got recently and been a life savor for music beat tracking and of course the Flow graph for smooth zooms like in tiktok edits from AE. and I even made my own deep glow using Ignite super glow and sapphire glow etc.

I just thought it was time for someone to spread positives on this software for once.

Here's an example of a tiktok style edit I make in Vegas Pro. Using Sapphire, BCC, MBLs, Twixtor, ignite, the protype tool for fade up words like AE. and everything.

There are other editors who use Vegas for these types of edits but some switch to Davanci Resolve or After Effects etc but I don't go all out on mine so I use Vegas instead.

I also bought Vegasaur years ago expressly for it's beat detection. VP22/23 has beat detection and tempo. I've compared them, and they both work, but Vegas is built in and I use it.

As for complaints about Vegas, go to the Resolve forum and you will read complaints there too. Go to any forum and there will always be those that are unhappy.

There has been software that I've owned in the past, and if I were unhappy enough, I'd just move on. I don't digress into a childish temper tantrum, but express my feelings respectfully. If there are issues I experience with the software, I write what they are and reproduction steps for others to test. There have been some issues that I didn't realize that "I" was the issue, not the software.

Yeah, it's time for Vegas to come out from the shadows and into the light again.

Just give me a list of short reasons why people shouldn't dismiss the software.

Something like that for me to build upon for the video.

I'd focus on use cases rather than features. Most NLEs are fundamentally similar in what they can do, it's how they do it that's interesting.

For me, it's the ease of timeline editing. I regularly need to delete individual frames and that's easy with Vegas. I don't know about other NLEs, but I've no wish to try any of them. My favourite transition is the simple cross fade. Easily achieved in Vegas. Simply drag the start of one clip over the end of another. Even 1 frame cross fades, which I use regularly. I don't bother with fancy transitions, although they are available, natively, in Vegas if I need one.
A massive bonus is the ability to run scripts for many tasks. I've written many (with much help from @jetdv) and incorporated them into an application extension, which is dockable.
Vegas Pro fulfils all my editing needs.
