Give us back CDArchitect !

Hi

Not being able to integrate anymore CDArchitect in
SoundForge 5.0 is a total nonsense !
Even if SonicFoundry will not support CDA in the future,
even if there will not be any more updates, why does Sonic
Foundry removed this ability to install it on SF 5.0 ?

I suggest every Sonic Foundry user to add a simple post
to tell them how much we are disapointed and tell them to
add the possibility to install CDA in a next update of
SF 5.0

Yes, it is ludicrous that CDA was discontinued* and more
ludicrous that it was omitted as a tool in SF5.0. I do not
plan to upgrade to 5.0 unless SF includes support in it for
CDA.

*I suspect, however, that the real reason CDA went away is
that it wasn't selling. It costs money to promote each
product and if the revenue isn't coming in... However, SF
could easily still offer CDA as a downloadable product on
their web site at some price, without significant
advertizing cost. But even that would raise issues of
support for new drives and OS updates as they come along.
Sigh.

Et ben t'as bien raison mon gars !!!

Ceci dit, il y a peu de chances que Sonic foundry accéde à
notre requete.

Donc quel soft pour remplacer CDA ?

EVEN IF THEY DISCONTINUE IT, THEY SHOULD STILL MAKE THE
UPGRADE OF S.FORGE COMPATIBLE. I FEEL CHEATED ON. I JUST
UPGRADED TODAY, THEN WHEN I RAN THE INSTALLATION OF CDA, IT
LOADED SF 4.0. I WAS CONFUSED. I'M MORE UPSET THAT I WAS
HIT BLINDSIDED... NO WARNING OR NOTICE IN THE READ ME, NOT
A MENTION IN THE HELP FILES, NOTHING ON THE WEBSITE, EXCEPT
US THAT ARE HERE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED!

WE WANT IT BACK!!! EVEN IF YOU DON'T SELL IT, LET US USE
THE ONES WE ALREADY BOUGHT!!!

I am disgusted that I am a loyal user and I never had a
clue that updating to SF 5.0 was going to lose me CD
architect. This is the kind of thing that loses customers.
What are we supposed to do? I have my first CD project
ready to master for crying out loud!!

I am extremely dissapointed that Sonic Foundry has decided
to discontinue CD Architect.

I have been using CD Architect heavily for about 4 years
now. I run a small mastering and sound design house, and
having CD Architect has been a godsend. It allows me to do
what no other CD layout and burning program can do. Visual
layout, advanced PQ editing, and "region" controlling.
Truly a great program.

Because it is such a critical application, I will not be
able to upgrade Sound Forge now or in the future unless CD
Architect is supported. I'll just have to do the higher
resolution work in Nuendo and drop down to 16 bit before
sequencing and burning.

I was lucky today in that a new Sony burner worked fine
with CD Arch.

I certainly hope that Sonic Foundry will consider
continuing CD Architect, or a program like it, in the
future. For studios everywhere this was truly a great
application.

Please don't let this great program die.

Absolutely rediculous. I have to say, i am staying on 4
because of how heavily i use the CDA tool.. Bad Business
guys.. I feel like you sold us out. We spent money on
this software and intend to be able to use it. Luckily i
used sforge 5.0 on a friends machine before i went out to
buy it. Oh well. there goes your 350 odd bucks from me!!

Shame on you people of Sonic Foundry!!!
Why is this ?? No more CD Architect ??
And all of us payed for this program.
MollyF wrote on 4/4/2001, 11:58 AM
Most of you paid for the program. Some more than others and
quite a few not at all.

If all users paid for CD Architect, it would still be a
shipping product.

If all users paid for all their software, Sonic Foundry
wouldn't be in as much financial trouble as they are in
today.

Hi there.
Although it may sound (and probably is ;) an ugly solution,
but:
After installation of SF5 and quick realization that CD-A
isn't going to work, I've created another win installation
on the same machine and installed 4.5+CD-A on it...(CD-R
driver, too) && (Different directories, of course). So, I
can make my edit/create -> save -> reboot to new win
installation -> use your CD-A.

Ugly, I know -- but I like it too much, and, as many of you
are pointing out, money are already spent...
