Glass master check disk question

When I get my glass master, I usually take it to the local tech stores and play it on about a dozen players.

I always wonder if there ia actualy a differnce in the differnt players quality...they seem to all have the same mechanics.

regardless, I first go to the cheap portable ones then step up to the "all in one" TV/DVD models.of course, computer playback testing has already been handled in my studio.

so part of my question is:

If I played a dual layer check disk on 20 decks and the Breakpoint freezes on 1 of 20...is that considered an anomily and the player would likely be to blame or does that indicate a clear error on the cheack disk?

I've never done the "glass master" route, but I would be extremely concerned if the layer change failed on one out of 20 commercial players.

Could be a bad player, a defect on the master, or even a problem with the authoring program. Pressed disks are supposed to be as universally compatible as DVDs can get.

Try a second identical player. If it plays, then we know the first player has a problem. Otherwise, plead for a second master. If IT won't work, then I'd suspect the authoring software.
