Glitch in AC3 File

Hey all. Trying to do a simple DVD for a client (I don't do a lot of video editing), and get a glitch at the front of the AC3 file every time. I only hear this once I'm in DVD Architect, of course, and I know of no way to edit the rendered AC3 file directly. In Vegas, the first audio clip fades in, and I've tried slipping everything back a few frames, adding an audio envelope fade, and adding a blank silent region, all to no avail. I was able to get around it by moving the start point back a few frames in DVD Architect so it bypassed the glitch, but this obviously shouldn't be necessary. I'm using Vegas 8 in an XP Pro Core i7 system. Any advice?

IS this at the beginning of the program or a chapter?

Beginning of the program. It's the first thing (along with a video file dissolving in) on the Vegas timeline.

Maybe it's just a glitch in DVDA.
Have you tried burning it to DVD to see if it's still there?

First thing I would do is burn a DVD-RW and see if the glitch is actually there. It could be a Windows Audio buffering issue.

Did you create the AC3 file?

I often get pops or audio glitches in the DVDA preview. These have never shown up in the final DVD.

Just prepare the project and play it using your computer's software DVD player (i.e., WinDVD, PowerDVD, VLC, etc.). I'll get you don't hear any problem. You can burn to a DVD-RW or DVD+RW as others have suggested, but the extra time needed for the burn really isn't necessary.

I'm a little doubtful, since moving the start point of the file in DVDA eliminated the glitch—but certainly worth a try! So am I to understand that having to put up with preview glitches—even with a screaming fast machine like this one—is commonplace? That seems pretty unacceptable. As far as I'm concerned, one of the things that defines "Pro" software is that it doesn't do things that create client anxiety.

Sean, windows gives me anxiety everyday, and all of the PRO software runs on it.

Try a DVD and see.

Can't argue with that!

Something I remember reading in the Architect forum is to be sure that the "Save markers in media file" is NOT checked when you are doing your AC-3 render in Vegas.
