Glitches and capture weirdness

Hello,

I'm using Vegas Movie Stuido 6.0b. Per the Vegas help file instructions, in the preferences/ General - I have checked "ignore third party codes" and unchecked "use Microsoft DV codec." I captured video from my DV camcorder.

The captured AVIs play back in Media Player as only audio and a black screen (sometimes - that is some clips from the same capture play and some do not). But there is no error message from Media Player that there is a missing codec. These AVIs play OK when played inside Vegas. The codec listed on the captured AVIs is "DV Video Encoder."

Another problem, when I "made a movie" from one of these AVIs using the Main Concept MPEG-2 encoder, the resulting MPEG video has excellent quality but there are always one or two glitches (halts, then jumps ahead) that do not exist in the AVIs.

I'm experienced content creator. Any information that could help me with trouble shooting is greatly appreciated. (I have ordered a Vegas training DV and will study the app much more closely.) But in the meantime. Thanks.

Regards,
George

Hello,

Thes above-described AVIs that only play audio will play video if I click on the black screen of Media Player. Then while the file is open in Media Player the video also plays. Strange.

I would suggest you reset your program back to its default settings.

As far as the glitch goes, are you watching this rendered movie using a dvd player on a TV?
