GLitching during graphic moves

I am in the process of configuring my system, trying it three different ways, from suggestions by two guys who build daws for a living ( and dont agree with each other)
and one guy who has similar setup to mine

When I zoom in or when I move the visible area of the screen, by dragging the bars underneath or to the right of track view, I get a moentary skipin the sound.
Also some freezing when hitting play sometimes

This used to happen when I had a VERY weak system ( p3 450, 128 megs of ram) and was using echo or MOTU cards. After I got a better system and a mixtreme, this wouldnt happen.

This new system should be blazing fast and no problems.

Asus P4t-e
P4 2.4ghz
512 megs ram
matrox g550
2 x rme 9652
netgear ethernet card ( happens also without this card )
Teac cd burner
2 x seagate barracuda
1 x Western Digital wd1200JB
1 x floppy

here are my irq's as of this hour, soon to change

0 ISA System Timer

1 ISA PS/2 Keyboard

3 ISA Com 2

4 ISA Com 1

6 ISA Floppy Drive

8 ISA System CMOS/Realtime Clock

10 PCI Intel(r) 82801 BA/BAM SMBUS Controller-2443

12 ISA PS/2 Mouse

13 ISA Numeric Data Processor

14 ISA Primary IDE

15 ISA Secondary IDE Channel

16 PCI Matrox G550

18 PCI RME Digi 9652

19 PCI Intel(r) 82801BA/BAM USB Universal Host Controller-2442

20 ISA Microsoft ACPI Compliant System

21 PCI RME Digi 9652

22 PCI Netgear FA311 Fast Ethernet Adapter

23 PCI Intel(r) 82801BA/BAM USB Universal Host Controller-2444

any ideas ?

Update video card drivers. I have seen this problem before, that is usually what causes it.

I've heard that the G550 suffers from problems to do with hogging the PCI bus (which the earlier G400/G450 didn't) leading to gapping in the audio.

Although I haven't tried it myself, I gather that disabling busmastering on the G550 and/or turning down the graphics acceleration to minimum should cure it.
