Good resource for beginner???

Hi all;

I've been a recording engineer for years, and I'm starting to dabble in video editing. I have VV3 but no capture card (any suggestions on that would be great too). Is there a resource somewhere where I can learn more about all the format options for importing and exporting video? It's a bit mind-boggling how many different option I have here. Online or on paper is fine.

Thanks!

I think this board is a pretty good place to start. You might go back and look at the posts from back in December when the product first came out. At that point, there were more basic questions on the board as everyone was working to become familiar with the product when it was released. You can search in this forum for specific questions or take the tutorial that comes with the program.

Another great place is the Creative Cow website.

http://www.creativecow.net/cgi-bin/select_forum.cgi?forum=sonicfoundry_vegas

That forum has a lot of good information and the web site has some great tutorials. The folks there are very willing to help and interact. They watch this forum as well.

I've been VERY impressed how eager other VV users are so willing to support and help each other. The community here is the most positive I've seen on line. Very little negative stuff or negative responses to questions a new user might have. You'll have a hard time finding anyone saying anything negative about VV or not willing to help.

Good luck. Hope this helps.

Hi Neil
Im new also, I am using a dell I8000 and my 1394 connection. I recently purchased a canopus advc 100 for a/d conversion and am very happy with it.
