Hi, I just got a new computer recently to improve the performance and space. I usually have it on my 1gig laptop. I install Video Factory 7 and also I have a MPEG-2 file attachment from the original purchase. Since I'm no longer using the laptop and I'm tranferring the softwares into my new machine. Both machine have XP on it and I thought everything will be the same. Nope.. the only problem I'm having is the MPEG-2. I execute the registry file and it show that It's complete. But I tried to click make movie button and save it as MPEG-2 format, the next thing is the advertisement that said... I need to purchase the MPEG-2 file!! Anyone have that problem?

I'm using SONY VIAO XP Media
with 512 meg ram
Pentium 4 2.66 gig
120 meg HD

Yes i just had that same problem the other day also went to a new machine. If you have your product id number go to the web site and purchase mpeg menu and use call in option then it asks for the number. After you type it in with your new cpuid it happens. I hope this helps.

Thanks for quick reply.. I already did that and still doesn't work. I don't know if it has to do with XP Media instead of XP Home Edition...

Is there any way to check in the registery to see if it is installed properly?

I would be curious to see how your vaio works. I took mine back to best buy. It would not open or use several file types I had made before. Sony seems to push their own proprietary software. I just did not think it morphed well. Maybe you will have better luck, the_ripper

I have a viao and I had a lot of trouble with the cpu id at first - it is not what comes out when you display general system stats. If VF works this plugin should not have system complications?

I was comparing two machine (laptop and desktop) and I notice that the "Plug-in" folder is missing on my new machine. So, I copied "Plug-in" folder from my old machine to this machine. But still doesn't work.. (snapped!!)

one possibility... you may want to look at the version of videofactory you are using? the original mpeg encoder with vf was from ligos. the current one is from mainconcept. i'd call tech support to make sure your product and serial # are lining up.
