I rendered my first V4 project out to DVD on my new system this week. All-in-all, I thought it looked GREAT - and that was just using all settings "default".
HOWEVER - on certain sections (seemed to be limited to those with multiple layers/FX) I saw some strange artifacting. Not the typicall "jaggies", "blockies", or "blurries" you often see (such as on SVCDs) but what looked like "sparks".
Looks almost like the kind of brief "interference" sort of pops you'd see on analog video from a bad cable or dirty tape ... very strange. As I said, it seemed to occur only in sections where several layers & effects were involved, leading me to suspect it is somehow related to the way in which the codecs are rendering the semi-transparent layers.
BTW - It definitely appears to be a rendering issue, because the artifacts appear when viewing the MPEG-2 file on the PC (not just when viewing the DVD on a TV) but they do NOT appear during preview in V4.
Any similar experiences or assistance would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Gotta go - ED's calling!
