Gpu Acceleration and render with CUDA

Lab301-matteo wrote on 3/7/2019, 6:12 AM

Hi everyone, I love Sony Vegas but I've always had big problems rendering.I have a GTX 570 with CUDA architecture; after having activated the plug in render Mainconcept AVC, after having activated in the settings "allow legacy GPU rendering", when I try to render with the above mentioned plugin and activated the mode of encode mode in "Render using CUDA if available", the rendering part, the frames always remain at zero and the timer always increases ..... with a black screen in the preview.I think I'm wrong and I hope someone can help me solve the problem.

When trying your friend's Vegas Pro 16, did you happen to notice that the branding of VP16 is MAGIX, not Sony. The last Sony Version of VP was VP13 (many years ago now); thereafter, VP was acquired by MAGIX who have since released VP14/15/16.

Cameras: Sony FDR-AX100E; GoPro Hero 11 Black Creator Edition

Installed: Vegas Pro 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 & 22, HitFilm Pro 2021.3, DaVinci Resolve Studio 19.0.3, BCC 2025, Mocha Pro 2025.0, NBFX TotalFX 7, Neat NR, DVD Architect 6.0, MAGIX Travel Maps, Sound Forge Pro 16, SpectraLayers Pro 11, iZotope RX11 Advanced and many other iZ plugins, Vegasaur 4.0

Then there is no Cuda rendering anymore and to use the fast renderoptins of those new Magix Vegas versions you need to update to a much newer Nvidia GPU than you use now..
When I used those older Vegas versions and tried to render with your choosen template, I had always faults within that GPU helping and therefore used only the option without Cuda rendering.
Now the new version 16 has newer and better much faster render options with the Magix AVC and HEVC codecs if you use the GPU as stated in these Specifications

@j-v Not true! "Legacy Rendering" with the older CUDA encoder is still available, it just needs to be enabled as the OP already mentioned. Once enabled, the old MainConcept CUDA render template is available again.

@Lab301-matteo Check and see if your .Net version is up to date and that the Nvidia Driver does still support the GTX5xx series. Also, as already mentioned here, while the GTX570 was a fine card when released, it is many generations behind and a GTX1050Ti will outperform it.

Sorry , I know it is still available and I tried it more than once, but with me it is of no use compared to the fast NVENC and QSV options now available in the new 15 and 16 versions of Vegas.

Follow Oldsmoke's advice first, but I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents -- Just in case you are trying to render 4K or something.... As far as the "Legacy Rendering" is concerned I believe in VP14 it became a little crippled compared with older versions as I was only able to render up to full HD resolution (1440P gave me some kind of error). Unfortunately, I don't have my legacy cards to test on the later VP.
