Gradient Map applied Post

Hello all
Can you confirm a bug for me. I have tried this is 7 and 8, but just wanted to confirm that it's not just me:

Track A, Soure Alpha with bezier mask to reveal parts of Track B
Track B, Source Alpha

Apply Gradient map to track A - does it also affect Track B? as it does for me.

All other fiters only affect Track A as expected.

Thanks

Andrew

You've been caught by The Triangle.

Find the track header for the FX keyframe T/L, at the bottom of the GM window. Next to the name of the FX you'll see a tiny triangle. Click it so it points the other way and your problem will be solved.

Because the GM FX ADDs something to the frame it'll affect even the parts of the frame that have been masked to transparent. Other FXs don't work this way e.g. apply CC to nothing and nothing is the result.

The triangle controls the order in which things are done. Pointing left the FX is applied to the frame and then the mask cuts it out. Pointing to the right the mask cuts out the frame and then a gradient is added.

HTH,
Bob.

Hello Bob

Thanks for that the quick response, I understand that process.

What I was getting was definitely wrong - which is why I was asking if anyone else had the same. It only applied to gradient map as I have other filters in the chain.

However, it's working correctly now on 7 and 8, I haven't rebooted or anything just had a coffee - perhaps Vegas needed a break too ;-)

It's odd because I don't normally experience an Vegas problems.

Anyway it seems to have fixed itself now.

Thanks

Andrew
