Hi Guys. I understand this probably isn't the place for something like ths but I though you guys would be of great help.

I'm currently working on a series of High School Graduation Video Montages (images, old footage-to be played at graduation ceremony), and I wanted to put together a list of music that may be appropriate for this presentation.

I understand the royalty issues but some on else is going to work them out.

Thanks guys. fixler.

Pomp and Circumstance, of course.

I usually ask the kids what kind of music they like and then pull that type from my Digital Juice Backtrax library. Of course, if you could get the license, I Hope You Dance by Leann Womack is really good. One thing to remember is the music sets the mood. If you are showing fun shots of the seniors around the school, use upbeat music and make the pic's match the beat. If you are showing the seniors as kids growing up, I like to use slower music that has emotional appeal (especially to the family or kid). Also, I like to vary the transitions in-between each picture. I know that is overused sometimes but it really adds to a slide show. And, don't forget to add movement to stills using pan/crop and also recommend you use match aspect ratio. Sorry if this is more than you asked for. Hope it helps.

My wife's personal favourite as the lead-off song (images of kids as baby/ youngster/teenager) is "I Will Remember You" by Sarah McLachlan. Makes her cry every time.

You can get the same response from "Then They Do", by Trace Atkins.

One of the girls actually sang "I Will Remember You" at my daughter's 8th grade graduation. Excellent choice.

If you are going for the hanky music, a great choice that my daughter came up with for a recent project similar to yours is Only Time by Enya. It's a contemporary piece of music, so the kids will like it.

It completely takes over your audience.

Great lyrics but his version might be a bit too country for some folks.

Any of the kids in a band themselves? Do they write their own music?

If so, copyright problem is solved, too. I can't imagine you'd have trouble getting permission.

Otherwise:
"Rock 'n' Roll High School" -- The Ramones
"So Long" -- Woody Guthrie (or maybe the version by "X"?)
