I'm a big fan of the Matrox cards, but they currently don't offer an MPEG decoder on their graphics cards, if you think you need that.
Are you looking to do dual monitors? Matrox and NVidia are both great for this application.

I, too, am a big fan of Matrox graphics cards. The quality of the image output is noticably better than anything else. Their drivers are quite solid as well. Personally, I have had nothing but trouble with ATI cards primarily because of their drivers. Cards based on the nVidia chips are perfectly acceptable, but they still don't have quite the image quality as the Matrox cards. There's really nothing wrong with the GeForce 5600 card you have now. A better video card isn't going to make your final video look any better, nor is it going to speed up Vegas in any way.

If you're card supports dual displays it's probably just fine. Vegas doesn't have any special graphics card requirements. However, you may have other apps that need 3D features.

Matrox has a model that can output photoshop and AEFX windows to an NTSC monitor. That can be helpful.
