Graphics files not updated in preview window.

Our middle school produces a weekly news program using Vegas Video 3.0a. Graphics and lower-thirds are created using Microsoft PhotoDraw version 2.0 in PNG format. Whenever an image file is placed onto a video track (and the time cursor positioned to make the image current within the preview window) and later modified and resaved, the previewed imaged is not updated. We often reposition lower-thirds and title graphics to fall within the safe areas, switching between PhotoDraw and Vegas Video to confirm from the preview window that the graphics are placed correctly. Version 2.0 of Vegas Video would update the previewed image file immediately after the file was saved in PhotoDraw, but after upgrading to Vegas Video 3.0 we've noticed this automatic updating no longer occurs. Our guess was that a preference selection wasn't defaulting as it did in Vegas Video 2.0, but we were unable to find a selection that applied to this situation. A workaround we've found is to toggle the No Previewed FX button located above the preview window, which forces the previewed image to update, but this is very inconvenient. Does anyone know how we can have the image file changes updated automatically within the preview window?

I am pretty sure you are seeing a side effect of the RAM preview caching introduced in Vegas 3. If you do not use RAM previews, you can set prefs>video>Dynamic Ram preview to "O". If you do use RAM previews, you can move the changed event slightly, then move it back (undo should work) and it will refresh. We'll try to make this friendlier in the next version of Vegas.
