Graphics or text only shows in part of 360 Video

Dusty wrote on 12/8/2019, 2:00 PM

I have Movie Studio 16 platinum.

I am trying to add an image and or text to my 360° video. However when I try to move it to the location of the video I would like it goes out of frame. I would like to know how to be able to place it at any part of the video and if that is possible.

Happy to describe more if needed.

@Dusty Can you give us a screengrab of your timeline at the logo area.

@EricLNZ Hey, Is this a good image? l have saved the project so I can recall it let me know if you need something different! thank you for taking the time to look!

@Dusty How are you positioning your logo?

You have Event Pan/Crop applying to the clip (event) and also a FX applying to the track. One of these or both might be causing your problem.

If you are using them to size and position your logo you might find it easier to use the Video FX Picture-in-picture applied to the logo clip.

@EricLNZ I am just using the event pan etc.

I tried using the Picture in picture as you said and has the same effect. I even deleted and started with a fresh version of the logo.

It's just occurred to me - is your logo on a track labelled "Picture-in-Picture, because if so that could be your problem.

Your last post appeared as I posted mine. What FX is applied to the track?

I have moved it to a different track, I can now move it beyond the original section using the Video fx Picture in picture, However when I try to move it to the bottom it warps and shrinks out of exsistence

Dusty wrote on 12/9/2019, 5:17 AM

@EricLNZ This is what I mean by shrinking you can see it starts to warp as I move it to the bottom

EricLNZ wrote on 12/9/2019, 5:18 AM

So it probably was the "PIP" track causing the problem.

As for warping and shrinking it could be something to do with 360 videos which is beyond my knowledge as I've never done them. Hopefully someone who does may pass by. It's well past midnight for me and I need some shuteye. Hoping someone can fix it for you.

Yes, this distortion is due to editing a 360 video. You can reduce the distortion by shrinking the size of the logo (use pan/crop on the logo event). Ultimately, of course, you won't know what the final result looks like until you view your rendered video in your 360 deg viewer.

Okay thank you, when I try to render using the tips in the video i renders with no footage, I can hear the audio but no visual at all. Any help would be awesome

Sorry Dusty, I've run out of ideas. You need to use the Scene Rotation FX to move the logo wherever you want it in your 360 world without distortion, but that creates a black background so you then need to use Mask Generator, but that only works with black and white (e.g. white text). Colour logos go bleached :( Maybe someone else has some ideas.
