Finally... finally.... went and did my money on the Canon XM2. Koooollll cammy....

Chienworks - you can now breath a sigh of relief. IanG - it's really sensituive and responsive. The DV control in VF works a dream - no more Dazzle Hollywood Bridge. This thing has got AV-DV pass thru'. Its also got Left and Right channel stereo MANUAL audio control knobs! You can see both L & R channels flickering in the eyepiece and the flip out lcd. I've also got a Sennhiesher mic XLR and and and.......

Now how do I upgrade to VV? Hmmmmm.... And yes I also wanna extra 2 Maxtor hds.

Really going to start having fun now lads and lassies! Oh yes I've got a Pub gig to film on Monday night.

Seeyah

Randy - I can't tell you how much easier it is having use of the DV controls within VF capture. Brilliant!

Don't be jealous.... be happy for me.... Okay BE jealous1 Seriously, this is really going to make a difference to my Vid-Activity.

Thanks for the best wishes,

Grazie

I'm not sure how I got associated with those attributes, but there you go! I'm suitably jealous though!

I'll be very interested to hear how the gig goes - are you planning to record the audio separately or will you be doing it all with the camera?

Cheers

I'll breath a sigh of relief when these house payments are over ... gimme 20 years or so. Not too many new toys until then (LOL).

But seriously, congratulations! Sounds like you're set up for some serious fun now. Hey, can i borrow it next weekend for the musical that my brother & sister-in-law are in? ;)

Hi Grazie, are you using the Canon hotshoe XLR adapter or a BeachTek type box for your XLR input?
Grazie wrote on 11/29/2002, 2:39 PM
soundguy63 - Yup the Canon hotshoe XLR adapter.

Sarasdad - Side feeder - I couldn't bring myself to tell friends or relatives I'd spent money on a "bottom" feeder - call me old fashioned - but well, it aint natural - is it?

I've read "tons" of stuff on the this other excellent Forum for the XM2 = UK and GL2 = US

http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/forumdisplay.php?s=743239a28c1f64582beb6bf54027f0b7&forumid=20

S - read through it. It truly has been influential on my buying decision - Seen the Sony VX2000 - too many ££s. XM2 has 2 independent knobs for Left/Right audio.

I'm going to have a serious play this weekend and will post my thoughts. I will say that I have a pro videographer friend who I've spent most of today with trying to find fault - he can't see any. I understnad that our BBC uses the Canon - then XM1 - as a stand by, for quick and dirty news footage.

S - do read the forum I mentioned there is a mass of new experience with this cute cammy. Gain and grain and red shift and 3CCD comparisons.

"Hey, can i borrow it next weekend" - er? Let me think about it.... HMmmmm..... ;)

Yeah thought about it ...... no. I'll be using it then - He! He! - Chienworks thanks for all the help in the past. I've been using the VidCap DV controls - WOW! is that how it's supposed to work?!?!

Grazie's Last Post!

Hmmm... Sideways Reply note: When I post a "Reply" to one of you, my "Replies" appear collected at the end of the thread. At the end of the "Last Post". Why? Or more importantly, how do I rectify this annoying "effect"? This makes a nonsense of keeping replies to the relevant question!
