Green Screen Footage Color Correction (before applying Chroma Keyer)

TobHammm wrote on 11/9/2017, 9:41 PM

I know, after effects and other programs are more specialized for this, but I would like to use the internal Chroma Keyer of Vegas Pro 15, since it'll make my workflow far easier.

So, any tips on which filters I apply, before i apply the chroma keyer?

(for example, saturating the green tones only, make different shades of green look the same, etc..)

Thanks for suggestions,

Tobias

Boris and New Blue amongst others make very good plugins for Green Screen work. They are much better than the Vegas built in ones IMHO. But they can be quite expensive. Worth it though if you are going to be doing a lot of Green Screen.

The HitFilm chroma key tools are also excellent - really good at pulling keys of poorly lit backgrounds.

Just installed Hitfilm Express 2017. Doesnt show up in Vegas though. It should, right?

Basically everywhere? Effects, extensions... Where should I look for it?

yes, that was it! Thanks! Unfortunately, it can not read the 1080p 422 footage from my GH5. Vegas 15 can, but Hitfilm cant. I just wanted to do some greenscreen keying, which was why i installed hitfilm in the first place :(
