Green Screen, has object with Green Outline.

Hi,

I filmed my first green screen for the local church. I'm quite pleased with the results on my first attempt, but I notice that the person standing in front of the green screen, when I chroma keyed the green screen with a random picture in vegas 7, I see a little green outline around the guy.

I'm thinking maybe it might be a shadow...but I was super careful not to creat any when I filmed it.

Any ideas on how I can adjust this in vegas?

Odds are that a touch of Chroma Blur would help.

...and next shoot, move the subject farther away from the greenscreen, and if possible use less light on the greenscreen.

Backlight on the subject can help also.

I have found Cinegobs Keyer to be a great help with my green screen footage. It is free and has more functionality than Vegas' keyer. My footage has some green "glow" around it as well (I have a smaller room to work in) and this takes care of it just fine. Just make sure you read the tutorial and you will be up and going in no time. Just google it.

One thing when keying with any keyer is to key over a neutral grey back ground while you adjust the key.
There's a great tutorial around on using Keylight. Even if you're not lucky enough to have that tool watching it will teach you a lot about keying. You can get close to the same results with Vegas if you've done a good job up front. It takes more work. Knowing what to work on from watching that tutorial can be a big help.
