Grouping?

I still don't quite get the grouping in Vegas Video 2.0b
yet, everytime I go to use it, it never works like I've
used it in the past. It seems like once I "create new
group", it should reselect all the events when I left click
on any of the events within the group? This never happens
now, so how do I select the group once I create it?

Also, I forgot how to "Lock audio to video" when working
with video events that contain audio. How do you do this
again? I had to select both the audio and video event to
accomplish this today, and then I tried to "create group"
also to do the same thing and that didn't work for me
either.

Apparently because of the inclusion and focus on Video
features since Vegas Pro, grouping of audio events is now,
IMO, non-intuitive, aggravating, and requires extra steps
to effect.

When attempting to "move" grouped events (one of the MAIN
reasons to create a Group), grouping only works for moving
those grouped events horizontally along the time line in
the _same_ tracks.

In current versions, if you attempt to Move a grouped
events vertically to other tracks you must once again
select the member events of the group individually, or by
selecting one event in the group and then using "Shift G".

In any event, unnecessary and extra steps slowing down
Audio editing tasks from previous versions.

IMO, one of the most useless and redundant feature of Vegas
V/A is the "Ignore grouping" feature/button ... all it does
for me is take up screen real estate.

If SF really wants to make _AUDIO_ event "grouping" a
valuable and time saving feature for editing, they will
bring back the grouping model in Vegas Pro, and add the
ability to "Slip" grouped tracks as one.

Just my .02

Ok, I finally took the time to relearn this now. The thing
that's wrong with this, is that now when you left click on
an event, it doesn't automatically highlight all the events
in the group, which tends to add confusion. You have to
take the extra step and either hit "Shift G" or right click
and select "select all" under the Group menu. So now my
question would have to be, "why wouldn't selecting all
events in the group be the default, especially since they
added the ignore grouping button to individual select
events?" Dave Hill?

This has been EXTREMELY annoying to me as
well - and for some reason, Sonic Foundry
doesn't see this as a problem. When you click
on a member of a group, the whole group should
be automatically highlighted and selected for
copying, dragging, etc.

Sonic Foundry - can you please make this available
in the next update/Vegas 3.0? Anyone else feel
the same? We should not have to G to truly select the group.

That's great - so is this going to be
in the next update or 3.0?
When is 3.0 planning to release?
