Groups broken by Ripple Edit?

I had two different Groups established to safeguard all my tricky edits using both video timelines. But when I did a Ripple Edit earlier in the timeline, I found my Groups were messed up.

Should this have happened? What could I do to avoid this happening again?

if nothing is selected, you can insert time and everything will move. There will be new group behavior improvements in VF2 that will make this easier.
