It's confusing because there are different names for the same thing. In Vegas, rendering to the AVC format uses the H.264 codec.

Render -> Save as type: Main Concept AVC/AAC (*.mp4)

H.264 is also known as MPEG-4 AVC. If you want to learn more about it, see also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264

I am really interested in this matter. A church i do some video for requires Quicktime .mov files. I use Quicktime Pro with great results, but I would rather do it from inside VP8. I have not found a render setting using either the Main Concept or the Sony AVC, the result in either ugly video, or 4X the file size compared to QT Pro. If I use the Quicktime render in VP8, I don't have an h.264 option, only h.261 and h.263. Is there a reason that SCS doesn't include h.264 in the QT render list?
