Could you give the Mediainfo data on the offending file?
Tim20 wrote on 7/23/2012, 8:58 AM
Certainly. In AE the settings are: H.264, RGB, Millions of colors, Premultiplied. Main Concept H.264, Bitrate 3.00 Mbps Level 5.1, VBR, 1 Pass. Windows sees the file as a Mpeg4. As soon as I touch the file to load into Vegas I get the :Vegas has stopped responding.......

I meant use the free utility from
http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download_Donate

If you have made an MP4 file, you will need Quicktime installed.

I have quicktime installed. Ran the media info but it shows basically the same info that I posted above. Says its an MPEG-4 (Base Media/Version 2). I have even tried associating MP4 to quicktime instead of windows media player and it still crashes Vegas

It might still help if you posted the comprehensive tree view from MediaInfo.

Believe I found a fix. In AE if I select Quicktime H264 it wraps it in a .mov which will load into Vegas

There is more than one way to skin a cat.

I notice that you have a very low video bit rate for HD. I would expect something of the order of 20 Mbps.
Tim20 wrote on 7/23/2012, 9:01 PM
Yeah I just saw that. That was the generic h264 that didnt work. The one wrapped in in the .mov was much higher. Been experimenting all day. I needed the rgb +alpha and tried lossless avi what a mistake that was. Can't do 20 gigs per minute. Settled for the .mov as rgb and alpha seperate which is about 100 meg per minute. But then figured out that I cant get the combined RGB + Alpha to work in Sony as planned. Maybe its me, but looks like I will have to do what I want in AE and then use Sony just as the final clip editor.
