Handbrake question

Hi,
I just rendered a project and I used the Quicktime / Avid DNxHD codec that I have used many times in the past. This is a larger project and after 7 hours, I have a 37gig mov file that is being rejected by Handbrake. I am getting a pop up box saying it is either protected, it's not, corrupt or a file type handbrake does not accept. I have used this process many times over the past year and have gone back to make sure every step is correct. I can play the file with my QT player and it looks great. It is by far the largest file I have tried to render in HB...is that the problem? Any ideas?
I am using Pro 10.

Try placing a 16, 16, 16 Black Generated color on the bottom track of your Vegas Project. You should make sure that no transparancy gets passed thru to HandBrake. Fades or short gaps in your project could present a problem.

Jerry's advice is good. Just adding the lower track (to block stray alpha) often works. So does replacing any nested projects with their actual events.

There's even better news. The latest Handbrake nightlies have improved DNxHD support in libav, as well as a bugfix that was causing some large DNxHD files to be mistaken for MPEG-PS, causing the exact error you reported.

The nightlies are quite bugfree, as the code is frozen for a new stable release that will be coming in just days to weeks, according to developers. Download the Win_GUI appropriate for your operating system.

So definitely try the nightly with your existing DNxHD file, before embarking on a lengthy re-render in Vegas.

P.S. As soon as the Handbrake 0.9.6 stable is released, I'll put it through its paces with the latest DNxHD 2.3.7, and update the version download recommendations on the video tutorial page, and pass the info along to Jerry so he can update his excellent project page.

Jerry,
Thank you as that could be the problem as I used alpha/open space for some title stuff...I had never done that before.

Musicvid,
Thank you too. I don't know what the "nightlies" are though...? Can you give me more info please?

A nightly build is just what it's name says. It's last night's software version instead of last year's version. All you do is download it and install it, nothing different.

I put a full black on the bottom video line and re-rendered with no sucsess. I found the "nightlies" though I have no idea which ones to download. Do I download them all?

Nevermind. I re-read your post musicvid, downloaded the correct win - gui and now it is working. Thank you very much dude...
