Hey, Tor, you're my cousin. My great-grandpa came over from Norway in the late 1800s. I think it's time for some of us American descendants to reverse-emigrate and get in on some of that oil money! :>)

Happy New Year! Sounds like you've checked out 2003 and all is well. That bodes well for us here in the US.

Thanks to SoFo

(Let's hope *nobody* starts another war.)

Peace, MPH

Well, from one of the most isoloated places on earth (surrounded by 3,000 miles of ocean) and from one of the last places to ring in... ALOHA and HAPPY NEW YEAR (little early as it's only 2238 here) from Hawaii! By the way, in my daytime life I work for the US Air Force (civilian) and can asure you that no one wants peace more than the American military man or woman. But, if called to duty, there's no one more ready and able to get the job done. Hopefully, it won't come to that.

HAH - to all you server based fixed boxes!

Bubble Bubble Bubble O O O O O ooooo

A lot of US companies already has their hand very deep into that pocket. You're welcome anyway.

Tor, all I know right now is that one of my great-grandparents, Amelia came from Frosta. My brother has done a lot of geneology which isn't organized too well. He has a page about Frosta here.

We've watered down a bit. My Dad is full Norwegian. My Mom is Irish and English. But what the heck, the English are just Norwegians anyways from way back, right?

Happy New Year to all! Always a good time to take stock and look to the future, however, if I use the word "resolution" today, it will have to do with the quality of video or pictures. ;) All the best to everyone in getting off to a great start in '03.

Paul,
One Norwegian foreign minister (Halvard Lange) said in 1957: We do not regard Englishmen as foreigners. We look on them only as rather mad Norwegians.
The same Lange sent an official telegram to the British government saying Norway was preparing to take legal steps to reclaim Orkney and Shetland (which belonged to us some 6 or 7 hundred years ago). Heads got hot and feet busy in London for many hours until someone remembered it was the first of April.
Anyway, modern DNA research show that you are right. Very many UK people belong to the same "stock" as the Norwegians.

Frosta is a bit further North - I'm in the South West.

Yes, I know from my own ancestry what a wicked sense of humor Norwegians have. Sounds very much like my father. He got into a lot of trouble kidding around with a stone face and people thought he was serious!

Well, hopefully someday I'll get a chance to visit the beautiful home of my ancestors.
