Happy with vv3, should I buy vv4?

I have been using vv3 with my high school students and they love it. "Its much easier then premiere" is often their battle cry. However it seems from what I have read in the forums that there are some bugs to the new program. Should I hold off until a later version, or go ahead and purchase it now. I would like to hear honest opinions if any of you current vv4 users want to provide me with them.

Thanks!

Just the addition of Color Corrector alone makes the upgrade worthwhile. From a teaching standpoint it depends how advanced your classes are. In my opinion color/level correction is CRITICAL and a very important part of video editing. I'll assume you're students as part of their projects shoot their own video. If so, then teaching 'how-to' correct lighting mistakes, other common problem, etc., will be something they probably would appreciate. While you can do it with version #3 it is much easier, faster and more accurate in version #4. Plus you could probably spend a good deal of time just covering the use of the new built-in scopes feature.
There are no "bugs" in the core of the program that I'm aware of I and use it about 10 hours a day. If there are "bugs" they haven't popped up on my system.

PS I'm ALWAYS honest. Sometimes blunt. Maybe too blunt once in awhile, but honest always. :-)

There are always 'issues' with apps, but I personally couldn't get even the beta version to crash, and the release version has been rock solid for me.

Given that you already have what I assume are stable VV3 systems, it's a fairly safe bet that V4 is going to be equally solid on your systems.

The only bugs I've read posts on are with DVDA, the DVD authoring part of Vegas +DVD. And I see they're already posting fixes for those. That's to be expected since it's a brand new program in their arsenal, but my amazement at how bug-free Vegas 3 was after using Premiere continues with Vegas 4 (although now it's kind of like, "Well, what would you expect from Sonic Foundry! Of course it's bug-free!")

Should you buy it? YES. You'll never look back!

I believe i should upgrade my V3 to V4 as well but I'm choosing between getting just V4 alone or the V4+DVD...which i read a lot of buggy remarks from you guys...

Give me an honest opinion as well... does V4+DVD package worth it.... or i just buy V4 and other DVD authoring brand......instead.

Thanks.

You don't know me, so I won't say trust me ...

Honestly, get them both.

You won't get better value, join a better community, or have more fun doing it.

Look at it this way:

How much does it cost to add AC-3 encoding to Vegas 4? (The Sonic Foundry store says "starting at $279.95)

How much does is the difference between Vegas & Vegas + DVD? (The Sonic Foundry store indicates $200 difference)

So, by purchasing Vegas + DVD, you get the AC-3 encoder (included in Vegas + DVD) for $80 less and a bonus DVD Authoring program thrown in for free.

There are also some bugs with MPEG encoding in VV4, but SF said they are working on an update to fix the problem and it should be available shortly. It's mainly when encoding to MPEG when you use not normal sizes, like 640X432. I was trying to encode some video to that size and it crashed every time.
