I don't see how a hardware-based render would be any better. I used to use the hardware render with a Pinnacle board and it was worse.

The key is the codec that is being used and the MainConcept codec is professional quality (and you can tweak the results to meet your needs).

I came across this site yesterday in response to another thread on this board, and was intrigued by the table in the article that shows the performance of a hardware rendering solution that sells for $25k. Bottom line: software is where it's at.

The review doesn't discuss the MainConcept encoder, but I would assume it ranks fairly high on the list.
