Has anyone ever gotten support from these people? I have been waiting for 5 days now to get my activation reset. Not a single word but the automated responde.
Movie Studio is a great product, but the support is the worst I have ever seen.
What does it mean to need your "activation reset" and how might I find myself in that position? Whatever it is, I'll try to avoid it! I'm always
messing with hardware and reinstalling things, so I could see this happening to me...
If you reinstall your Screenblast software too much, you will see a "too many activations issued" error and the program will refuse to start. Luckily, I am a hobbyist and not a pro on a deadline otherwise this would piss me off royalty. I am NOT a fan of product activations - they get in the way of legitamate user like myself and in no way hinder piracy.
Ok, deep breaths ...
Anyway, all you have to do is email tech support and usually with a day or two, they will "reset" the number of activations so you can activate your product without issue. I think there is also a phone number you can call if you are in more of a hurry.
My gosh yes! Sony/Sonic Foundry support has always been great!
Here's what I have found over the years (yes, years!) of dealing with Sony/SF:
1. If it's an activation or new/initial installation problem, *call on the phone*; forget email. These calls are free.
2. If it's a tech/info problem, use this forum, even if you only lurk. There are so many people that, while they may not be pro/experts, may have experienced your very same problem and can help you. Also, I have noticed that the Sony reps do indeed monitor these forums as they say they do. However, they pick and choose which issues to jump in on. Can't blame them a bit, as they have a lot to do and/or don't want to get in the middle of some tiny little bicker-issue of some sort. But when there is a definite need for their input, they do give it
I have first-hand experience to back up their good support, espcially if they see that the end-user is trying to stay in good spirits! <smile>
