On this forum I was told about Serious Magic because it allows PowerPoint Input. Has anyone used this product. Go to http://www.seriousmagic.com/index.cfm and check it out!
Hi Michael:
This product is very similar to the one in my post, "Customizable CD-ROM" this evening. Both of these include customizeable on-screen templates for the "graphically challenged"...that's guys like me. Some Vegas users are very skilled at using programs like Multi Media Builder (http://www.mediachance.com/) to write/create their own "Serious Magic Visual" products.
I am hoping that some of our fellow Vegas Forum gurus will have an alternative to these $300!!! products for use with Vegas that they will share.
These Retail Box products work fine but the price is ridiculous.
I use Visual Communicator *all* the time. It's pretty cool stuff for doing 'on the fly' greenscreen and stuff. Now that they have the PRO version out that exports at DV resolution, I've found even more uses for it. Unfortunately, their forum is only for registered owners of the product, but there are TONS of people pro and amateur...using it. Some of the pros use it with their clients for immediate gratification about what a project will look like and to make script changes and the like.
I don't think they have a trial, but I know they have a guarantee and I've seen a few people discuss returning it...usually b/c of a video card that can't handle it. The support people and super users there are an assett...much like this forum!
I bought the original and have since upgraded to the Pro version of Visual Communicator. As others have stated, I use it "on-the-fly" for quick 2 minute spots and the like. I mostly use it in tandem with VV for obvious editing reasons.
For the home user who is just wanting to send that video birthday card or the kid who wants to do an interesting report for school, it's a super product. The green-screen feature works very well.....
It appears the the main problem with this product is that it REQUIRES that Display HARDWARE ACCELERATION be set at MAX. I have several programs that will not work AT ALL unless Acceleration is turned OFF completely.
So, I have to turn it on and off all the time. A pain, but managable.
By the way, I find that VV 3 works best on MY system with it OFF. If on, it will, ONCE in a WHILE, drop a frame or stutter. Not often. But, if it is OFF, never. Anybody else have this sort of "relationship" with Acceleration?
