Hawaii VASST Advanced Vegas 5 Training Complete

WHOA! I'm basking in the after glow of a full day of DSE and VASST training. Spot amazed me even though I already had high expectations. Watching him put Vegas 5 and DVDA 2 through their paces was priceless. Learned much more than expected but even more important to me was getting to see just what Vegas can do in the hands of the master. Last night during the Sony software demo there was a constant chorus of gasps, head shakes, and "did you see that" outbursts. Spot dazzled and wow'd us. Most of our crowd of about 30 were users of "other" NLE's and they were simply amazed. And most were back for the training today. There's no doubt, Vegas 5 and DVDA 2 rocked Hawaii's video editing world. It was beautiful.

Many thanks to Spot, Mannie, and Sony for bringing VASST to Hawaii. The seeds are planted. Hope you'll be back soon!

Thank YOU Randy, for helping make this opportunity happen.
Interestingly enough, of the 50+ people at the event last night, about half were users of FCP, Edition, and Premiere, plus a couple Avid guys. The event on Thursday night caused one attendee to call his boss and have him fly in to see the full training day. He kept us til nearly 8, going over various features of Vegas. It was also great to see one of the larger Hawaii dealers, VideoLife, be so enthralled with all that Vegas can do. I think this was a GREAT launch event of the product here in Hawaii.
What a great crowd at both events. It was scary to be in such a large room, we could have played basketball twice over in there!
Lotsa great people, lotsa great questions, and what a great core users group. It must be so dang hard to edit video in paradise. I'd much rather be outdoors, I think.
Looking forward to Singapore and Australia next.
Thanks to everyone that helped make this event such a great time.

A friend of mine is getting married in Oahu, Hawaii on August 22nd. I have told her that if she and her family shoot the footage, I could edit the video and create the DVD for her. But, just to be fair, I also told her I would check to see if there were any other wedding videographers located on the island.

I am not sure what her budget is (which is why I pitched my idea to save money), but if someone is interested in the work, please post something here, preferably a link to your website. Any information posted will be forwarded to my friend.

Thanks,
Colleen

Are you kidding?! I think there are more wedding videographers here in Hawaii per square mile than anywhere else in the universe. Met about 20 in the past couple of days. But wouldn't you love to come to paradise during one of it's best times of the year to enjoy the surf, sand, and of course, sunshine where it's almost never warmer than 85 degrees? :-) Heck, if it weren't for a video event in Denver, I'd be tempted to offer, just so I could come back here so soon.

Randy,

Let me know if anyone in your group is interested in this. (Thanks Spot for considering the gig, but I am sure that my friend couldn't afford you!)

(Anyway, I want her to hire me, but I need to let her make the decision "fair and square", hopefully I will be the best option for her economically.

Also, she is looking for a still photographer, these are difficult decisions to make since she is in California and is not able to meet the people face to face in advance.

Awesome VASST Seminar Spot!

Like Randy, I was amazed at the full power of Vegas 5, especially at the hands of a master. You really inspired me to be more proficient with my Sony software.

Mahalo nui to you and Mannie for a great two days. I look forward to seeing you again.

Such awe-inspiring feedback from the VASST training attendees!!
I live in Sydney, Australia, and am attending both the night & day training sessions scheduled for the 9th Aug. My expectations are high, and i know I won't be dissappointed. I bought the class on demand for Vegas 4.0, and was blown away how it accelerated my learning (from scratch), especially with Spot at the helm. I am truely looking forward to seeing Spot wield Vegas 5 & DVDA2 on a string, and picking up some of the finer and more proficient ways to using this magical software that has become the best feather in my hat! 14 more sleeps!!!

Thanks
Glen

Thanks Randy!

(Even though there are many wedding videographers there, I think it is frustrating for my friend to decide since she is living in California, etc).

I will forward those sites to her.

Hi DVDeviations,

I'd love to help out with the shoot. Can be very flexible, multi camera shots if needed, have steady cams, jib, dollys, etc. wireless systems for audio.
I have no problems if we just shoot it and you edit it. Probably be easier as things been pretty hectic out here but would love to help.
Have her email me if she's interested. We also do full entertainment for weddings. Have her visit www.wayoutwestenterprises.com if she has any questions!

Thanks Randy! Again, awesome training Spot. Hope you didn't get too sun burned. :-)

MediaRaider,
For sure you are in for a treat. Spot is multi-talented. I have some pretty good footage of him performing excellent swan dives from a 25 foot cliff into Waimae Bay. Mannie was right there diving in too. Guess you could say they made a VASST splash...oooh, sorry...that was bad. Both he and Mannie are great people. It's no wonder VASST is in such high demand. Don't miss a minute of the events. This is a rare experience.
Aloha,

That was only 25 feet high? :-) Felt like 50. Seriously though....they closed that same flippin beach the next day due to shark sitings. Geez Randy, thanks for taking us to shark-infested waters. I'm sure Mark, David, and the rest of the Aussie crew will take me swimming off the Great Barrier too. (outside the nets, of course)
Don't forget VASST Singapore, too!

BTW, Randy, DON'T YOU DARE post that footage w/out us seeing it first. Please remove a coupla lbs from me with the Bezier tool too.

No worries Spot. This footage will go in our personal archive. :-) As for the sharks, don't worry, they're friendly. They were just looking for a "hand out". Thanks again for a very memorable week and knock'em dead in Singapore and Australia.
Aloha,
Randy

I'm in Brisbane Australia and i'll be travelling down to sydney for the VASST tour! Can't wait to see someone else use vegas- i've never heard of or seen anyone else in brisbane using this software.. may be because no one sells it up here. It was a steep learning curve coming from premiere but my acid skills made it somewhat easier. Thanks for coming down australia!
