HD Audio Track Limitations?

When rendering video in any of the 720/1080 formats, the audio track disappears between 60 and 70 minutes in the finished product. The entire video track if there, but the audio track consistently disappears within the above interval, although not at exactly the same time point even when re-rendering the same movie.

My projects are riped BluRay movies which I am "shrinking" so they can be viewed across my home network. Not to sweat, but I own the original BluRays and use EarthSoft BluRay Ripper to generate a HD .wmv rip file. The original ripped files are simply too beefy to play across the wire and overwhelm the Media Center Extenders.

My primary platform for the rendering is an AMD Phenom x4 9500 system running VMS v10.0, but I previously experienced the same issue on an AMD Athlon x2 4600 system running VMS 8.0d. Both systems run Win 7 64-bit Ultimate. I thought the problem had been a limitaiton of the earlier version but this appears not to be the case as a version upgrade did not resolve the issue.

I have also tried working with other rip file formats (avi, mov, mpg and mp4) as source for rendering and have the same disappearing audio issue. I also check each ripped file for completeness before rendering and nothing appears amiss. My conclusion is that I am encountering a limitaiton of VMS.

Please help me understand the flaw in my thinking.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know why no one wants to touch this question. I would render out 60 minutes and delete that portion from the timeline. Then render out what ever else is left until you get the failure again. Keep doing this until you find the flawed section (which is suspect is the case). Then, you will have a better question question to ask.

The latest...

I have found that I get audio drop outs but can reduce the probability by rendering smaller sections and then rendering all the little peices together again to make the whole movie.

I had been taking whole HD movies (1080p) and was experiencing a few dropped autio moments before completely losing audio in the 60-70 minute area.

I next tried taking just 60 minute chunks and while I never completely lost the audio, the dropouts remained a problem.

Now I take 30-minute chunks and haven't noticed any audio dropouts. It's just a pain to render a 2-hour movies into 4 pieces and them put them all back together again when the software should handle this with no problem.

I did consider the bad frames possibility but if that were the issue, smaller chunks should not fix it.

I'm also waiting for Sony Tech Support (only been 4 weeks) to reply.

I had been a fan of this product, but am growing disenchanted.
