HD clips lagging

Hello, im new to this forum and to editing in general. I am using Sony vegas movie maker platinum 9.0, and when I am trying to edit some HD clips they are really laggy and choppy, making it hard to edit them and sync them with music etc. The clips themselves wll play fine in Windows movie maker but not in Sony Vegas, any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you're using AVCHD (h.264) as your source footage, then Vegas 9 is not the one you need, that would be Vegas Platinum 11.

Im using footage from my xbox 360 converted into 1080p using the Bungie.net website in WMV format. Will that have the same effect, and does Sony vegas 11 work better for HD editing?
