HD clips with SD mpg clips in the Same Project

I have an HDV project. I added an mpg clip of a slide show. When the mpg slideshow is played by it self it looks fine. When the mpg slideshow is previewed in the project it also looks fine. When I render the whole project to mpg (MainConcept MPEG-2, DVD Architecture NTSC WideScreen template. The rendered HDV portion looks fine. The rendered slideshow portion oscillates slowly in and slightly out of focus.

Project settings:
HDV 1080-60i Template
Rendering Quality – Best

Render As Settings - Architecture NTSC WideScreen template
Stretch Video to Fill output frame size
Video Quality High (31)
Average (bps) 8,000

Any Ideas on how to render so the slideshow part stays in focus?

Thanks

You're taking a clip (mpg slideshow) that's already compressed and further compressing it which can result in a cases of the nasties :-(
Do you have the original veg file of this slideshow or can you rebuild it?
My guess is that, if you did that, it would look better.
Also, try setting your project properties to match the slideshow video properties and see if that helps.

Freebird,
at the moment unfortunately it is a very-very uneasy task for Vegas :(
The defocusing of yours mpg is caused by discrepancy first field: in mpg file ìost likely Lower field, in project settings (in your HDV) - Upper field first.
Change of the first field in properties of yours mpg file will lead to occurrence of a strobe ("one step forward / a floor of a step back")
The most simple decision-
if it is possible, try to recreate anew the project slideshow, and render it with Upper field first
More complex decision - manually shift track with mpg slideshow on one pixel upwards or downwards (It would be desirable, that Sony have paid to this attention and Vegas has learned to do this operation automatically)

Programmers Sony, please pay attention to this problem !

Thanks

Thanks for the replies. This project is a video I shot of a High School end of year Choir Concert. The Slide Show was something that they showed at the end of the concert. I am replacing the Video I shot of the slide show with the actual mpg they used. Unfortunately it was not done in Vegas and I do not have the raw project. My wife tells me that I am being too picky and it looks fine. She is probably right. But, I notice it and it bugs me. Oh well, it is what it is. Thanks again for the responses!!!

At editing of a interlaced material with the different first field on TL Vegas, one of sources will be always washed slightly blurred (what of two - depends project properties)
Try to place mpg slideshow on a separate videotrack, then having applied to a path Track Motion, shift it on one pixel upwards or downwards. In Preview Window (Best Full) you at once will see a difference

I wish good luck
