HD Connect 3.03 messed explorer

The problem mentioned under "red clips" was caused by corruption of MS Explorer, which resulted from upgrading Cineform v3.01 to v3.03. I did a system restore and got all offline media back, but problem returned when repeated the upgrade.
I've always upgraded without uninstalling the previous version, which hasn't generated problems before. However I noticed some discussion about uninstalling first -- this is necessary for Cineform?

Serena,
You are probably right,
the fisrt install I did of 3.0 earlier versions I did with out uninstalling first. Funny thing I opened a project too, and saw clips in the media pool that had a solid red thumbnail and looked ofline. I believe some of those clips were on the t/l and that played fine.
Shortly after that the revision that Daved from cineform came out(fixing the smart render prob) I did a complete uninstall incl removing the codec when it asked. and every subsequent install including the purchased version and then installing the 3.0.3 version I always do an uninstall then reinstall.
Cineform has greatly improved this process in which a while back any uninstall and reinstall required reactivating and a bunch of steps.
It now retians the info in the registry and is a breeze.
Try a complete uninstall including the codec and then reinstall.

I have not seen the red frames since that first time.

Serena:
Here are instructions for a "clean" install of CineForm.

Uninstall Connect HD
Remove 'CineForm HD VFW Codec' from Add/Remove Programs
Check C:\Program Files to see if there is a 'CineForm' directory present. If there is, delete it.
Check C:\Program Files\Common Files to see if a 'CineForm' or 'Moonlight' directory is present. If either of them are there, delete them.
Click on the 'Start' button
Select 'Run'
Type 'regedit' and click 'Ok'
Open 'Hkey_Local_Machine'
Under ‘Heky_Local_Machine’ open 'Software'
If a 'CineForm' folder is present, delete it.
Open 'Hkey_Current_User'
Under ‘Hkey_Current_User’ open 'Software'
If you see a 'CineForm' folder, delete it.
Download the latest version of your CineForm Product from the CineForm website and install.

Don't ask me any questions on this as I'm of to London for three weeks.

Thanks for the detailed procedure. I'll do that.
Interestingly the upgrade on my other machine AMD XP produced no errors and this might be peculiar to AMD 64 processors. I've had Cineform since v1.5 and every upgrade has been installed over the top of the previous version, without any hint of problems (including 3.03) . But that was all on the XP machine. Only with the v3 being released did I get another licence for the AMD 64 X2 machine and here the first upgrade layering caused a problem.
