HD editing plugin for Vegas

This looks interesting:

So for a few hundred extra we can edit video from the GR-HD1 and use the JVC HiDef DVHS decks. To the best of my knowledge there's nothing else out there that can do this. Whether or not doing it is such a good idea is another matter. Just interesting that they chose VV over all the other NLEs.

Doesn't anyone have any comment on this?
Was this done with Sony's blessing / assistance?
If so it certainly bodes well for the future.
If not it's still a good sign.

I tried to see a demo of this tool at the Expo show, but couldn't. It's cool to see on paper, but not having seen it in reality, I don't feel comfortable commenting. Perhaps that's everyone else' point of view?

I looked at the CineForm site before DVExpo - West and only saw where it was available for Premiere. I know the little blurb said "Vegas" but if you looked at the requirements it said one needed Premiere. And FWIW when I had posted about the D-VHS decks and HD workflow wirh Vegas over at another forum a rep for CineForm told me there wasn't anything for Vegas but there was this plug-in for premiere and it was "priced accordingly".
Now I just looked at the CineForm site and it is very much updated since DVExpo - West. Vegas is all over the place but even so if you look here http://www.cineform.com/products/default.htm#Difference you see that Premiere will do more than it Vegas, at least with Aspect HD. ConnectHD almost is made out to be a "lite" version or something. "Supports Sony Vegas 4.0 software" it says for both ConnectHD and AspectHD but at the top of AspectHD is "Real Time Professional HD editing in Premiere Pro." Like Spot says - it looks good on paper but beyond that "I know nonthink." And it seems weird that Spot, working for Sony, could not find any demo of this at DVExpo - West when the CineForm site has this blazing across the homepage - "CineForm is also announcing that the first video editing application to be bundled with Connect HD is Sony’s highly-touted Vegas® 4.0 software, the combination of which forms a comprehensive solution for editing HD video."

Filmy you dog- you didn't come by the Sony booth and hunt me down? I would've liked to have met you and leg-rassled ya- next time I guess. Email me at Dr.Dropout@sonypictures com for my proper contact info.

Anyway, yes, Cineform + Vegas is cool. They were demoing on the backside of the JVC booth the entire show. We have worked with the Cineform guys quite a bit and they have a Vegas + HDV solution ready to go: Capture native MPEG or capture directly to wavelet codec; render to intermediate wavelet codec, render back out as HDV file, print back to HDV. Right now of course that usually means acquiring on the JVC HDV camera and (usually) spitting back out to D-VHS...but expect that to change over the next half dozen moons or so.

I could find them, just couldn't take the time to see a personal demo. The one time I walked by, there were loads of people there, and they were indeed showing Premiere. I only had a couple hours on the floor for the entire 3 days. Between Sony, book signing, my DV engagements, and the Ulead presentations, I was pretty locked into one place the whole show. Upstairs. But I did get 2 hours on Friday a.m. Most of that was shaking hands with folks and saying hello, and then running to the airport. I'll have this in my hands soon, I ordered it today. I've got some native footage from the JVC, so I'll give my 'report' as soon as I've worked with it.
