HD frame breakup?

I'm having a problem shooting with a Sony Z1 when flash photographers are around. For some reason the image breaks up occasionally along the bottom of the frame. It appears to be substituting part of the previous frame, and does so at variable heights from the bottom of the frame.

There's a screen grab here to show the problem: http://www.seeingeyeblog.com/hdprob.htm

The camera is set to auto when this happens, but even when I set it to manual the same errors occur. Has anyone dealt with this and possibly come up with a solution?

PS this was shot in DV, not HD, but the same thing happens in HD mode.

Never seen this on my FX/Z1. Do you see this in the camera view screen when you play back your tape? Did you see this on the camera view screen when capturing to disk? If so then it must be a camera malfunction. Otherwise it could be a fault in capture. Did you capture in the standard way with CineForm?

I think I remember seeing this when I first got my FX1.

At the time, I was using CapDVHS HD capture tool on a dual 1Ghz pentium. I did have a few problems with that combination, as in the m2t capture file actually had sections (1-2 seconds) of video randomly repeated. No problems when I upgraded my computer and stopped using CapDVHS. It did not happen all the time.

So, are you using Vegas internal capture with a Pentium 4 / beefy AMD PC?
