be nice to be able to log shots then capture the logged portion of the tape.
Preview window on screen would be nice too.
I know the blood is still dripping from brand new app. just wondering if its near the corner or a ways down the road.
The Vegas Capture needs to be re-written to handle new types of input and catch up with design and logic improvements elsewhere in Vegas. I suggest that some or all of the utility of SceneAlizer Live, but not necessarily the interface, be included in the rework. Integration of the batch capture and other utilities would also make sense, as long and the interface was logical and well designed.
I agree, just as Vegas has come out with 5d to support the intermeadiary ,it would be nice if Vegas' own capture util would handle HDV. But, unfortunatly I dont think that will happen, at least not until a Vegas 6 maybe. The Fact that Sony and Cineform have made a package deal for those of us now ($149) seems to me that it might be an outside plug as it is now for sometime.
Course, thats just my opinion, I could be wrong, and maybe Sony comes out with an update to 5 to support such a thing. And the Cineform plug is the "Hit" we early adopters take.
How do you capture HDV now? Does the cineform app do the job or does Vidcap somehow handle it?
Veggie toolkit has a tool that i use all the time to import a log file. It creates offline events from the log entries and then I can use that to capture the offline events. Works great and it names the clips based on the log entries. It can also combine the reel name and description into a file name.
You must use the Cineform HD Link capture util that comes with Connect HD.
In the HDV mode the firewire output is not recognoized as an actual camera in Vegas or even by the pc for that matter. HD link has transport controls for the cam. and actually converts the M2t stream to thier avi intermead. on the fly.But as of right now it does not have things like a preview window, clip logging or advanced capture abilty like VidCap.It does however have scene detection.
BTW , I use the Veggie toolkit too, but again this is a whole diferent bird.
