hd rendering

Hi all

I am a little confused so any advice/pointers would be appreciated.

When rendering out to hdv I want to output a file that contains the program stream. In the render options I can render an mp2 file. The extension appears to be mpg but when rendered it is m2t. Why is this? As far as I know the m2t is the transport stream. Is there any way in Vegas to render out as a program stream?

Thanks

Richard

Richard,

I don't think so.. .what would you do with this if you could create it? If you want to print back to tape you render to the m2t files. If you want to create a current (SD) DVD you render to that. Or you render HDV in wmv if you have something that can play it.

When we can create Blueray DVDs or whatever I guess there will need to be some new templates added.

Sure, you can render HD-MPEG2 PS if you want. These files can be played by any MPEG-Player on your PC (like WinDVD 7 etc.).
Just select any other template than HDV - or create one yourself: If you click on "Custom..." Template and select the last tab ("System") you can select between Stream-Type Program or Transport.

when you render out with the MPEG2 HDV template the file is named .mpg by default, but you can just rename it to .m2t. and print to your HDV camera. That HDV template uses the Main Concept encoder to create an HDV standard mpeg2 transport file.
