HD-SDI capture cards that accept LTC in?

Are there any HD-SDI capture cards out there that have a BNC connector (or whatever) to accept Linear Timecode In? This way, you don't have to worry about conforming/reverse telecining the 1080i60 w/pulldown file using software like Cinema Tools or After Effects? Because it will already be 23.976 coming in.

I think Avid Nitris does this. What else?

You might not get a card that'll do it but there's several boxes around that'll convert timecode from one format to the other.

I'm not certain precisely what you're trying to do so I can't really offer much more help however SDI links can have embedded T/C or not, the other way to get TC into say a BMD card is down the 422 port but that's also used for deck control.

I'm guessing in your case you've got LTC that's different to VTC?

We have two and no, this they well not do. Also as this is HD SDI what he'd need is the HD Connect which even though not yet released I seriously doubt would do LTC.

LTC is a FSK audio signal recorded on a linear track on the tape.

Do u find this unit helps vegas' performance at all??

Don't use the SD Connect much with Vegas at all as I've got a BMD card and use J30 decks to ingest digibetacam to DV if I need to.
My gut feeling though is that using the SD Connect to convert DB's 4:2:2 to DV25 gives a slightly better result than the downconvert in the J30.

We've also got a couple of HD Connet LE's. Again not really that much use if you've got Vegas.

Where these boxes earn their keep is on the likes of Avid systems. Many of them will ONLY ingest via SDI or else component. The Convergent Design boxes are great pieces of glue for our brothers (and sisters) working in broadcast. Bear in mind that DV and HDV is not routable, pretty well everything in the braodcast world is SDI with 422 deck control i.e. VCRs like the DSR-11 and all the HDV decks just don't fit. With the various boxes from Convergent the systems can be tricked into working with these kinds of decks.

I have a Miranda DV Bridge with SDI and transfers OK the time code via firewire for offline editing in Vegas, then you can make a batch in SD or HD. The only thing is watch with rime code breaks. It must be uniform from starting to end.

Hope this hepls, regards!

Sorry that also will not do what Shannon wants unless I'm mistaken.

Firstly the DV bridge from memory doesn't do HD-SDI and secondly I don't think it has an input for LTC. LTC is an AUDIO signal. You do see it on BNC, RCA and XLR connectors.

Farss my man....It always seems like we see eye-2-eye. *smile*

Anyhow, it looks like there is only ONE card on the planet that accepts LinearTimeCode from a camera or deck. And that would be the BLUEFISH 4:4:4 cards. They start $10,000.00!! *sad face*

Looks like the best thing to do is to get an AVID system.

Doesn't LTC stand for longitudinal timecode? Not that it matters too much...

It does indeedy, recorded onto a separate track on the tape, basically an audio track. It's just an FSK signal, very similar to what good old analogue modems use (but at a pretty low bit rate), actually it's probably closer to how the first PCs recorded data to audio cassette.
