HD SDI Monitoring Options for Vegas Pro 12

I'm looking for an HD SDI card that will work with VP12 so I can use my HD SDI monitor as a preview device. HDMI doesn't support a 10-bit output whereas HD SDI does. I was considering a Decklink from Blackmagic, but there are too many horror stories. Are there other options out there?

Thank you.

The major 3rd party vendors including Blackmagic do not formally support VegasPr012. You could step back in VegasPro versions to version 9 for BlackMagic example. Some of the other vendors may get you support in VegasPro10. This means, if you want 3rd party support- it does not mean you can not experiment to attempt your results.

However you should way the cost of experimentation time and money versus moving into a different environs that is more proven by a substantial client base.

An AJA Kona LHi works fine for me in both Vegas 11 and 12, BUT... in 12 you have to copy the AJA.dll file from Vegas 11 or a previous version. It's broken in 12. No audio playback through the card either as was promised in this version. SCS has acknowledged these issues and are supposedly working to fix it. But SDI and HDMI i/o work fine. Just need a good audio card to get i/o there.

HDMI 1.3 and later does support 10,12 and 16-bit. The real issue is the availability of devices that support more than 8-bit. Small list.
