I would like to understand the underlying reasons for
a) keeping the O.S. and VV 3.0 on C:\ Drive
(mine WD 20 Gb 100 ATA, 7200).......... and
b) keeping Media Source Material such as Stills
(My Pictures-various formats); Sound (My Music-
wave, mp3); avi-files from VHS/S8 imported
through ATI/AIW composite and s-video, on a
separate HD (Seagate 100 80 Gb ATA,7200).
c) keeping a third HD (IBM 40Gb 100ATA, 5400) reserved
for material to be rendered or storage of rendered
projects, printing to tape etc.
BIG MYSTERY:..What are the traffic flow requirements between Drive C:\ (OS/VV 3.0); the drive containg the onboard source material described above and the drive rendering or printing to tape functions.
I have an ADS Pyro OHCI IEE1394 card which can link my Canon Elura2 Mini DV to my system, Intel D815 EEA
mobo, PII 733 (integrated audio/video), 512 Mb SDRAM.
Could someone explain the logic and method (which available HD for which purpose) for obtaining maximum efficiency in terms of VV 3.0, using the above three hard drives and systems available, in order to
1a) capture from VHS/Hi8 to disk(avi), thru ATI-AIW
composite or S-video(which codec?).......OR
1b) capture to DV Canon Elura2 Camcorder tape thru
ATI-AIW composite or S-video(any codec here?)...OR
1c) capture to VV 3.0, via ATI-AIW to DV Canon Elura2
camcorder, through IEE 1994 OHCI (VV 3.0 codec?)
2) composit/edit the various media in VV 3.0
3) monitor previews on NTSC while doing (2)
4) render to disk, or tape (DV)
5) render to tape (VHS)
Finally, what are the codec implications of importing/plugging in, of third party stuff,
such as Photoshop or AE?
