Very interesting and informative read. So if an HDTV "passes" it will display all 1080 lines of resolution and if it "fails" it may display as little as half the resolution (540 lines). Has anyone here tested a 1080i camera like the Z1 against 720p camera like the JVC on a 1080 native set that passed this test to get a good comparison?
I've been questioning a lot of the HDV camera "shootouts" that I've read because of the display device used. It seems that the only fair test between cameras should occur on a 1080p set that correctly deinterlaces a 1080i signal and accurately scales a 720p signal. I'd bet the Sony Ruby front projector would be perhaps the best device for an accurate HDV camera comparison.
