HDV and monitoring.

Anyone got any ideas on what to use as an external monitor. If I stretch the Vegas preview window accross both my LCDs I can just make it to 1920x1080 but doesn't leave much room for anything else and the join between the monitors kind of destroys the experience.
So OK, thinking about an external monitor, hopefully those who know more can now talk. Can / will Vegas feed a HDV signal down to the camera to drive an external monitor? Will that still work with the as yet unavailable Cineform codec?
I'm assuming I can then get a component HD signal to drive an external monitor.
Which brings up the next question. I've so far found only one option for full res monitoring, a 2K res projector and that makes the cost of the camera rather trivial, the Apple mega big LCD only takes DVI and the Sony Luma series from what I can see doesn't go to 1920x1080! I know you can feed that into a few of the Sony monitors but you don't get the full res display by the look of the specs, could be wrong of course.

Excellent questions and I wish I could help you more. I owe you, I know. A graphics card with dvi shouldn't be too expensive. But the apple 23" will run you around 1800 usd. Then you'll need their adaptor for another 150 I believe.
Samsung also makes a 24" monitor and I believe they also make the apple monitors, so that's something to look into.

Bob, if you can afford it, the PREMIERPRO 23" Wide Screen Flat Panel LCD does 1920 x 1220 natively.
Spot talked about it an a recent DMN post.

Thanks for that, looks pretty cheap too.

I'll check out what SPOT has to say about it.

Am I right in thinking that HDV can be monitored on any modern computer LCD as long as it has resolution up to 1080 and digital input?

There are some cheaper clones of the Apple I have seen. I saw the Apple 23" but now I want the 30"!
