It's a hour, same as MiniDV. It would be nice if there was some HDV solution that took standard DV tapes as most of the stuff I do runs over one hour. I guess I'll continue recording directly to my laptop. I have heard rumors that Serious Magic is going to incorporate HDV capture in their DV Rack software.
