Have you tried to uninstall Cineform 2.1 ? That should bring Vegas 6.0c back to working order again as their codec is internal.

I think the Cineform codec ist *not* internal in Vegas, but is installed in the system. As far as I remember: when you deinstall the Cineform trial, a question pops up asking, if you wish to deinstall the codec too. I assume you have to say "no" - then the codec should be still available for Vegas.

Hope that is correct - I have not tested it with the latest versions of the Cineform product.

Connect HD installs the newer CFHD codec into a different location, so if you uninstall you should say "yes" to the removal of the CFHD codec (restoring Vegas to its normal state.) That said it is no supposed to behave this way under Vegas (which has a license to the latest Connect HD codec) so we will do an investigation. Software protection management is a very annoying and tricky thing.

I agree that software protection is important, sure.

But dont ask me why the software behaves in such a way. I tested it some month ago, when I did my HD101 tests, it was the trial of Connect HD 1.9.

And I deleted the trial again after that test - but I do that in a different way: I play back an image, what I do after every software test.

But I will test it in some more details.

@ David,

I have done a short test. I installed the trial of connect HD 1.9, that I had used for my tests. I have Vegas 6c on my PC, with includes the Cineform codec 2.1.

After installation of the trial of Connect 1.9, the Cineform codec 2.1 was still installed. Then I deinstalled the trial of Connect HD 1.9 again. Two windows poped up, asking
1) if I agree, that I deinstall all components fo Connect HD; I said yes.
2) if I agree, that the Cineform codec should be removed. This time I said for test purposes "yes".

When I did so, the Cineform codec was deleted completely from my system! That cannot be true: Vegas 6c user, who test the trial, loose the Cineform codec, when they deinstall the Connect HD trial. So, for Vegas-user it is *vital* to say "no" to question 2.

However, I have not tested that with your latest trial, I think - it was the version 1.9, as said.

Thanks folks & thanks David - sorry so late in getting back but duty calls. I had a problem with the earlier version of connect HD demo where it removed the whole codec from my system. David Newman told me to update to the new one & everything seemed fine - of course unitll that one expired - I can still play the codec but cannot encode to it.

I uninstalled connect hd 2.1 but the problem was still there so I uninstalled Vegas - and then remembered I have no internet connection in my new office yet...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....so I'll have to re-register Vegas so I can use it again to test if this worked. Please stay tuned...

Oh, and I opened a support ticket with Cineform - they have been very helpful with this nagging issue.

Thanks for the help folks

Just to follow up - uninstalled Vegas as well as the codec that comes with Cineform 2.1 as per Cineforms instructions (had to re-install Connect HD and then re-uninstall it and select remove codec instead of leave it there) Then re-installed Vegas and everything was good to go.

The registration process, combined with no land line DSL and very dodgy wireless, turned into a rather epic endeavor - but I'll probably save that story for a later time, it's late...

Thanks again for the help everybody!
