HDV Recapture

Newbie guy here so be a little patient.

I captured a bunch of footage in DV with the intent of recapturing that footage in HDV once I went from Vegas 6 DEMO to full version. Now that I have the full version and can capture HDV, and edit HDV, it sems that I cannot recapture those clips in HDV. When you attempt to recapture from the Media Manager it pulls all the clips into the native HDV capture menu with timestamps and everything but will not let me do a recapture at all. Also, when I capture HDV it gives me no timestamps or any other info! That stinks. I figure I am doing something wrong here because it doesn't make sense. I would take me a good 10 hours to manually recapture all of that footage to HDV. I am sucking right now, any suggestions?

Nope. You can't batch/recapture T/C with HDV at this time. (in any application AFAIK)

Hi Mr. Spot.
You know my brain isn't very technical, so is there a "simple" explanation as to why? It's got SMPT timecode and it's DV driven, so it seems there should be multiple ways to capture via Batch. It's really a throw-back to my old 3/4" days.
The problem will be mute, once I get a good laptop, big HD and DV Rack, though...

easy way around is to name each of your individual captured tapes (assuming your not using scene detection)...
Delete these original clips, but KEEP YOUR PROJECT.

now once you have these down, capture your HDV (convert to cineform or sony yuv if u have to), and rename your tapes to the SAME NAMES you had for your DV..

Open Vegas, and it should "look" for your media and it WONT find it, coz uve deleted it.. now redirect Vegas to your newlay captured HDV files

Voila
