HDV render

Hi all,
I have got Vegas 6 and am impressed that it can read the m2t files that I get from my hdv camcorder. The only annoying thing about it though is that I cannot render out to HDV. I can only do it to the intermediate codec (cineform) which makes the files larger. I can understand that the render might take longer if it is done to HDV but I wouldnt mind that. Is render to HDV available is Vegas 6? Will it be available in the future?
Thanks
Richard

Yes, it is. It's a preset in the MPEG-2 render dialog.

Excellent. Thanks for your help Marco. That will help me. I now just would want it in an avi wrapper. (like that is available for DV). I dont think this is possible but if peopel know different it would be good to find out.
Thanks
Richard

Hi Richard

HDV is m2t format, not avi.

Choices for avis, include the Cineform intermediate avi you mentioned, and now the Gearshift plug-in from VASST will create either Huffyuv or Widescreen DV avis. I'm looking forward to using the latter, as this will make editing on laptop a breeze, and can still be converted back to HDV for Tape output.

If you just want a "normal" widescreen DV file without Gearshift, you can render in Vegas, but my understanding is that this would not be not an intermediate format like the Gearshift one.
