HDV time code from Z1

This may a Z1 question, only...

OK - I found an incredible way to sync Z1 cameras.
You just set the TC to "Free Run" and "Preset".
Put all the cameras in a row and use the Z1 remote to reset the TC to zero.

All the cameras are now running in dead sync. No matter how the cameraman turns the individual camera on or off, the time code is still in dead sync. Wonderful !

But now, when I capture to Vegas, is there any way to find that original TC for layout on the timeline??

You can turn on Show Source frame numbers on event thumbnails as .... Set it to TimeCode.
That's under Options > Editing

However, from memory for some reason Vegas seems to capture all HDV TC as starting from zero. Why this is I don't know. Maybe it's been fixed in V7?

From the 7.0a readme:
Added the ability to read timecode from most HDV files (some 720p formats do not contain useful timecode).

Mr Farss -
Right Again!!

Minor detail - it's under Options>Preferences>Video> "Show source frame numbers on event thumbnails as: > Timecode

I knew it was in there somewhere! Sorta like when I look in the Fridge for something... "Honey, where's the cheese at?" My wife sez all men are blind.

Anyway - now that the technique is PROVEN - I'm going to mount it as a new thread. It's just too delicious for words when it comes to multi-camera shooting.
